Today we couldn't figure out how to improve the idea of making the little spinny thing for the handouts at the robotics competition. We decided that it would fly, it will gently float to the ground. The 589 will be on the "wings" of the handout. The Wednseday Challenge Form

I worked on my website and got everything done. Then I worked on my car, but the wheels are not good because they are crooked. I'll figure out a way to fix them eventually.

The Robotics group finished their CADD and the thing looks good. Only problem is that they are behind schedule. For example, they didn't finish the chasis which was an unrealistic goal as they say. They will have it Monday. Also my friend painted this on my drawing pad thing.

Bad news, the robotics competition won't allow flying objects so we will have to come up with something else. My group had justin and William. we came up with the idea of clackers by getting golf balls and glueing them to string. We won't win this Wednesday Challenge.

The first test didn't go so well... I couldn't participate on the first run because my wheels wouldn't fit the dimensions of the box. I fixed them though. I'll race tommarrow.

The final car test and my car made it kind of far, but I don't think I won though. It made it like 3/4 of the way down.

We went back to the shop to see the robot. The gear holder and ball mechanism works fine, but it can't climb the rope yet. We also looked at the grades and mine was ok, but could have been a lot better.

Today the Wednesday challenge was litterally basic ROCKET SCIENCE. We had to build a model rocket with three different stages. I had no idea about how to do the math, and that's why Alvin is going to carry us to the end.

On Monday me and my famiy went to go visit my sister in Sacramento. We flew there and her boyfriend picked us up. We hung out with my sister for a little bit and after that, we went to our hotel. Then the next day we left for San Fransisco. When we got there we parked in front on Piere 29 which is next to the boats to go to Alcatraz Prison. We went to the prison, which was shut down a long time ago because it was too expensive to run. We took the audio tour throughout the island. It was very cool learning more about that prison. We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp and got candy and played a a small arcade. We then went to look at some battle ships and submarines and got Beneighs. When we came back to the car the widow was broken and stuff was gone. Some guy found our stuff scattered on the sidewalk and the only things missing were my sisters tablets and my mom's new purse. We went to our hotel and took all the stuff in the car out. Then we walked to the Ghirideli chocolate factory, which is now a small shopping center. We went to a small cafe with good food and got chocolate and shakes from the factory. The next morning we walked to a small diner that had good food too. We drove to verison to get a new tablet and after that, we drove back to Concord to get the window fixed. We drove back to Sacramento and stayed in a nice small hotel. We flew home the next morning.

On my first day back at engineering I found out that team 589 didn't win the robotics competetion, but they got an imagery reward for our pit looking good. There was also a big line to get the spinning handouts.

We were given a theoretical choice, to take the regular math class or write down every number from one to a million and you would get an A. The Wednesday challenge will explain it better.

We watched how 589 did in the competition. They got far, but still didn't win. They got an inspiration award which means we got an invitation to the finals and NASA would fund the trip which is $5000.

The robotics team talked all day about what they did at the competition. They placed in the 60's range in the whole competition and visited many different places after it. They visited the team that has a lot of money and their own hanger. They also visited a baseball field that launched fireworks.

Today I cut out the cardboard for plywood for the practice skateboard. Justin and Zack help a ton so I thank them for that. I cut out 5, but I think I onl needed 4... oops.

Great news, I got to work on my skateboard instead of doing the Wednesday challenge. I had to glue the cardboard plywood together. I had to get all the sides evenly coated with wood glue and then I had to put wod and bricks on it so it wouldn't fold up when it dried. Also, here's john dong the spready spread with glue.

After the glue dried, I thumbtacked the printed skateboard to it and I traced out the skateboard on the cardboard and cut out part of it with a jigsaw. I'll have to finish it tomarrow. MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU

I had to put on trucks on my skateboard, but there was a line to put them on so i'll have to wait until tommarow for the trucks. Tommarow I will put the trucks on and roll it down the hallway to see how crooked it is.

I attached the trucks to the cardboard and rolled it down the hallway while the wheels were lined up. I had to do this ten times and after every roll, I had to measure from the tape to the wheel and calculate the average.

The average of the measurments was 6.99 inches which is enough to get the plywood from Dr. Neato. I'll have to wait until tommarow to glue the wood because won't have enough time to glue the wood together today.

I put the glue on all the planks and weighed it down using a hydaurlic press. Now I have to wait until tommarow for it to dry. For the design of the board, I will put some sort of flag on it.

The wood is dry and I traced out the cardboard design on the board and i'm going to cut it out tommarow because there is a line for the jigsaw. I had decided that I will put the filipino flag on my board.

The cutting did not turn out great because it looks lumpy on some parts. I tried to sand it down but fixing it would take way to long and i don't have time to do it. It still looks like to board I built though, so I still think it looks good.

I attached the bearings to drill the holes into the board and drilled all 8. The problem is that to holes shifted and I had to resize them a little so the bearing and trucks would fit onto it.

I had to fix the holes and it took all day, but the board rolls almost perfectly straight so i'm pround of that accident. When I get home I need to make a template for the flag i will put on the board.

I went back a few steps and tried to sand down to edges so it didn't look so bumpy. It kind of worked out and looks a little better, but it's not perfect. I can't fix the edges now but when I spray the board, I think it will look the way i want it to.

I brought trucks from an old skateboard but I didn't need them because I was going to spray paint today. Last night my mom made a design for the flag on my skateboard which is the sun on the Filipino Flag. Dr. Neat is all out of white paint so I need to get some this this weekend.
